Haymaking

Replacement Parts for all Major Brands

Haymaking involves several steps to produce animal forage feed for the winter months. These steps include mowing, tedding and raking and finally storage. Mowing should take place when the grass is in an early state of vegetation and ideally when the weather is dry for several days. As the weather can change quiet suddenly it should be noted that that the importance of having mower equipment maintained and ready to go at a moments notice. To keep your mower operating effectively you should inspect the condition of the blades on a regular basis, if any blades are found to be blunt or damaged then they should be replaced with quality mower blades. Once the grass has been cut and started to dry it should be worked over with a tedder with rotating tines to move damp hay to the top ready for the sun to dry.

Once dry the hay can be raked into lines or windrows and then harvested into bales. To move these round bales around the farm you may need to use an attachment with loader tines to lift and move the bales for storage.
