A front axle of a tractor maintains the position of the wheels relative to each other and to the chassis. The main aim of the axle is to allow the torque or power from the engine to be transmitted to the driving wheels of the tractor via the transmission. Due to the shear amount of power and stress that these components are subjected to it is important that any damaged part is replaced with an exact fit for your tractor. Whilst you can conduct a quick visual check when the axle is fitted, to make sure that the bushes and bearings are not showing any signs of wear the axle will need to be completely removed from the tractor.

On 2WD versions it comprises of a suspension unit and a steering component where as a 4WD vehicle will also incorporate a drive shaft.
